[SOLVED] Wine-Sandbox-Fire-Wire-USB-

Post by Skalman »

Hi Folks!
Many questions in same thread, they are connected.
I have a Focusrite with FireWire connection. Runs like a dream under Win.
It also have a nice on screen Mixer, very usefull.

Now I would like to use it with LinuxMint 21.3

  • Can I run the old Win program Sonar 3 in a Sandbox or virtual Windows?
  • The Mixer program, it is a must.
  • same for some sampler synths like the Edirol?

And further more, can a splitter/Hub convert FireWire to the USB port on the Laptop with LinuxMint?
If not, I must give upp the whole Idea.
In that case, buy a new USB extern Soundcard. Any suggestions?
Must be able to connect old LP player and Tape-player, RCA connectors, and signal out analog to amplifier, and two mic. as well.
Thanks.

To my knowledge it's not possible, the only conversion I've heard of was something like firewire -> thunderbolt -> usb-c on mac and I never tested it. Doesn't look good, does it ?

Thank You!
It is just what I was thinking, it is not possible. Well, I must keep my self to the Linux and dig deeper there.
I write-create music in classical style and use the computer to play it, MuseScore will do. Only need to get an external soundcard via the USB.

I still have an XP dedicated just for the music programs. No internet and updates on it. (Guess why?)
Thank You for the answers and i close the issue.
