SampleTank 4 Grand layered with EP and shimmer-reverb

Post by glowrak guy »

I love the simple layering of sounds in IK Multimedia SampleTank products. This screen is a grand piano with a nice e-piano,
blended to taste, both sent to a nice free reverb, Adam Szabo's Solaris, that deservedly won the recent KVR 'developers challenge' contest.
Many IK products have useful free 'Custom Shop' versions, enabling ala-carte testing and purchases. These can be installed in wine, and tested with their product and authorization manager tool. Making an account is easy, and they keep track of purchases and freebies in that location, along with forums and various categories.

Many sales appear, so patience is rewarded once you find a full version you like among the free versions. This is running in linux Reaper 7.09 in a recent AVLinux with wine-staging 9.0 Sixteen layers are available, if you have a powerhouse computer. Yoshimi synth also has 16 part layering, so active imaginations could pair the two for special occasions. Like the weekend

Where is it says part of "something" of 16, you can change 16 to 32 or 64 for even more layering.

Hi, In the SampleTank pic is the track view, there are 16 tracks with a vertical scrolling, the first two are occupied. Adding a 3rd track will place it on midi channel3, and there is a widget to slide that selection to the other midi channels. A second instance of SampleTank would provide 16 more tracks. There are separate views for mixer, effects, keyboard splits, sounds etc I added some percussion in a 3rd track and made a short loop:

In Yoshimi, the midi part and midi channel widgets are on the left side just below the center effects panel,
and to the right of the midi part selector you can switch to 32 or 64 parts. SampleTank does not offer that
capability and requires more instances to have 32 or 64 parts.

In this pic, a 12-string and a Les Paul are loaded, but with the transpose control of one set at 5, and the other at ten, making for some fun harmonies.
(the IK gui designers sadly chose dark gray text on a darker gray background  but you can see with a good squint. I added the free CamelCrusher amp-sim before SampleTank, with the free Solaris reverb, and GX-Tremolo after. Guitar volumes to taste.
