This is quite amazing and possibly the best Linux guitar software so far. It's even has NAM built in. I wonder if all the effects from https://try.mod.audio/ will be available at some point but even as it is it's just great.

I tried this and it's not working with JACK.

Now we need someone to wrap it as a VST3. I don't like to do JACK routing (combining JACK apps), so I would love to find a way to load it as a plugin within Reaper. :)

Devs don't rule out plugin format at some point but it would probably mean lots of work as it's web GUI at the moment. Meanwhile, they released new version today to address issues with jack and pipewire. I tested it and it's working fine now. It would be nice to see more effects, as there is so much more available on their devices as can be seen here: https://try.mod.audio. But they say effect store might be coming in the future so fingers crossed.

0.0.8 doesn't work here, segmentation fault.

So.... Doesn't Carla run JACK apps and can be hosted as a VST3? That might work....

It in fact works that way, I've just checked.

There is an open ticket on github: https://github.com/moddevices/mod-desktop/issues/44
Devs are active and very helpful so I would expect that sorted soon.

This is pretty fun.

How does one point the NAM device to *.nam files? I can't find an option or any docs about it.

I've just tried it. I like the idea of having the UI of all the loaded plugins visible on the canvas, while also being able to zoom in/out the whole view.

Also, while I generally prefer native GUIs to webapps, I can see one potential advantage here: the main window as well as the web browser (where the main workspace opens) supports Wayland natively, so no reliance on X.org or XWayland. (Sure, most native plugins work fine on XWayland on Sway, but some of them have slight bugs or flatout refuse to work.)

And of course, look at the number of bundled plugins! Looking at the list, I recognise a few of them that can be useful even for me, who is not a guitar player. This is a nice opportunity to try some of the other ones out. (Oh, and good thing they can be copied to ~/.lv2 so they can be used outside MOD Desktop.)

I'm curious to see where all of this goes.

You should have ~/MOD Desktop/user-files/ folder with a bunch of subfolders. It's where you can copy you nam and aida-x profiles, IRs and other stuff.

The “open user files” button supposedly opens the "~/Documents/MOD Desktop/User Files" for you.

MOD Web GUI User Guide

This page describes the graphical user interface (GUI) that is used for installing and removing plugins, setting up your pedalboards and banks, sharing pedalboards, updating your MOD devices and more.
