Hello LM again,
can anybody help regarding VLC and MusE, There is no sound in VLC as soon as MusE starts, even if both are connected with Jack.

Could you share a screenshot of your Jack patchbay when the problem occurs?

VLC has the annoying habit of deleting its Jack ports when it stops playing audio *), so you'd need to activate patchbay persistence and hope that VLC doesn't rename **) its ports each and every time it creates them. Or just let VLC output to Pulseaudio, and use pulseaudio-module-jack.

*)Well, apparently it does that even between tracks in a single playlist.

**) You can prevent this in VLC's Jack Output Module Settings when you give "Jack Client Name" a name.

screenshot attached, problem 'occurs' as soon as MusE is started (no sound in VLC)
vice versa when VLC is running and MusE is started: same: no sound in VLC any more
and:
VLC is not seen in Jacks connections

where can I give jack client a name

and
can't find his connection in Jack's Connection patch
and
when I get back to VLC settings there is no option for changing the name, it's 'Jack Audio Connection Kit' with a dropdownlist see screenshot

I don't see a Jack output module in your screenshot. See if your repo offers vlc-plugin-jack. Then try again.

can't see it too, although tried with apt-get install ... but seems no changes
on the other hand cant find vlc-plugin-jack in OS-sources in snap store
neither; jack-input-use-vlc-pace; jack-input-auto-connect; jack-auto-connect; jack-connect-regex
described @ https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Modules/jack
am not able to deal with / compling source codes from https://github.com/jackaudio/jack2/releases/tag/v1.9.22
there is no chance to run MusE without Jack ?

run MusE without Jack ?

A much better option is to just use Pulseaudio for VLC, and use pulseaudio-module-jack (if you can find that in your repo) to be able to simultaneously run Pulseaudio and Jack apps. Then VLC's audio (in fact, all of pulseaudio's audio) can be routed from PulseAudio Jack Sink to anywhere, in Qjackctl.

seems great

have found 2 options in VLC audio output modules
1) PulseAudio Sound Server
2) Playback/recording through the PulseAudio sound server
which one should i use?

is your screenshot from QjackCtl with your own settings for color etc.? Mine looks very different:

cant find pulseaudio-module-jack in sources, but how about
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/pu ... o/paprefs/
is that useful stuff for this purpose?

What distro are you using? It's called pulseaudio-module-jack in Debian, may have a different name in other distros.
https://packages.debian.org/search?keyw ... odule-jack

I use it here and it works well.

I don't think it matters.

Wonton Soup + Windows style in Settings. I don't know if my desktop's theme has an influence, but that one's Arc-Darkest.

cant find pulseaudio-module-jack in sources,

It's such a basic piece of functionality, I'd be surprised if your distro doesn't offer it in its repo, if it does offer both Jack and PulseAudio. As @sunrat suggests, maybe it has a different name, or is offered as part of a larger package?

Doesn't seem so.

@topmusik you still didn't tell us what distro you are using. It's important if you want help to find the correct package.

thx, seems a step in the wright direction. pulseaudio-module-jack was already the newest version and was determined as manually installed (1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.13). i have ubuntu studio 20.04 and MusE AppImage 4.2.1

changed VLC to snap in version 3.0.19 and : jack option is available !

what options to define now ? with standard options still no sound when MusE ist active and even not when jack is started.
when jack is stopped sound is there-

and / or handling with jack itself; can't see VLC in jack connection window
