Solid recording 'hubs', late 2023 and up

Post by AlkuK »

Hi. With the turmoils going around, there may be little to share I feel, subject-wise... The majors are still playing the fool, it seems. Indies... I know of the local players (North Europe, roughly), and I don't really like what I'm seeing. US-wise, shoddy pickings... Waving money up front is a poor sub for quality. Amerigo-style, too: Luaka Bop puts out a happy disc or two each quarter, or so. To go south and more latin is an option for the savvy.
All-digital I'm aware of myself, and a few others... Sleepy.

Please recommend something refreshing: labels, groups, indy mavericks, I don't care what, as long as it's good and relevant...

Joyful Noise, Matador, Saddle Creek Records, Domino, Warp, Secretly Canadian, Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar just to name a few labels on top of my head. I could name drop a plethora of bands and artists I think are relevant but it would boil down to repeating the names on the rosters of aforementioned labels :D
