[Solved] Air Strike 2 - does not read user presets

Post by tavasti »

I got Air Music Strike 2 https://www.airmusictech.com/virtual-in ... trike.html

Works ok, but after saving own presets they don't appear in User-presets. Only relevant error message seems to be:

Code: Select all

[Wine STDERR] wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\Z:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.

And because Z points to /, and sure that is readable, I suppose that is not fixable and maybe not even the real problem. Any ideas?

Problem was simple: because factory data install is broken in wine (friend told), I did not even try it, but made directory by hand, and copied files. But in addition of copying files, I should have made sub directories:

  • Kits
  • Mixes
  • Recorded Audio
  • Settings
  • Styles

After having those dirs and saving to correct subdir, it works!

Now remaining question 'is it possible to convert gm midi files to Strike styles'. But ok, not that easy because each style has many patterns, so would have hard time selecting files which to convert :-)

Saw a Strike GM export example, and easy tp play it on other virtual instrument, AIR's Structure in this case.

If you don't mind, what wine version and software manager version did you use to install/register the Strike?
I'm curious to try a wine 8.x on some plugins that were problematic a couple years back.
Cheers

wine-8.6 (Staging). Critical thing is that install ilok before plugin, and don't let plugin installer update/fix that. When you get dialog asking 'fix bonjour/ilok', say cancel to that one. This is the way with any iLok plugin, don't let plugins to mess that.

And that content install does not work. Create directory like 'ProgramData/AIR Music Technology/Strike' (Name/location is not significant, anyway you need to point that to plugin on first run), put there all those *.big files, and create those subdirs I wrote. And same things with content copy apply to Air Xpand2! content installation.

Thanks much for posting the tricky details! I think I'll try the 8.6 staging in a new Bodhi linux later this week.
Cheers
