(Solved) Carla and Claudia patchbays don't remember positions

Post by kirjis »

Hi, I couldn't find any discussion related to this, so:

I've been using Carla, Cadence and Claudia together with Agordejo as session manager for a couple of years, but the patchbays have never remembered the connection graph _layouts_. So when I load a session, everything connects fine and work perfectly, but all the devices and connections are graphically a big mess and I have to move them around every time to see what's what. It's not a big deal, but it IS is small annoyance.

Does this work for everybody else or is it just not implemented?

(Attached is a small example, this gets way worse very easily.)

Same here. Also double clicking a plugin node doesn't open the plugin's UI (I'm sure it did in earlier versions).

@d.healey I think that's not an "earlier versions" issue, but something to do with... uh, the way Jack was built? I'm not sure, I'm not competent enough with the internal workings of Linux audio, but I have that same issue with a recent AVLinux installation, but not my Arch installation on a different computer. I asked for help, but ended up sorta giving up.

At least I think this is the issue you're describing.

Thank you, that actually did the trick! For some reason libjack-jackd2-0 package was held, so adding the kx extras repo and doing

sudo apt install --reinstall libjack-jackd2-0
...and restarting...

worked, and now the connections actually stay where I put them. Excellent!
