Hi, this is my first post here.
I am playing e-drums on Win10 and trying Ubuntu Studio 16.04 now. (More low latency playing is my purpose.)

I am using cheap pads and DIY Pads and these equipment and software on Win10.

However, I learned that UA-1010 OCTA-CAPTURE does not work on Linux for now.

My dream is using OCTA-CAPTURE on Ubuntu Studio and run Reaper by Wine and WineAsio.
Please notify me when "the concrete method to use OCTA-CAPTURE on Linux (Ubuntu Studio)" is discovered.
My purpose is playing e-drums in low latency. Therefore, delayful connection method is useless. Thank you.

What doesn't work with it, is it not recognised? I found this https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1905531 for some similar devices, does that do anything for yours? It seems the device is not class compliant so it may never work properly.

Great! The situation turned better thanks to your information.

JACK failed to start at 96 kHz, but it starts normally at 44.1 kHz.
Although there is abnormality in sound (loud volume of white noise sounds), it seems that it works normally as a driver. (In 44.1kHz, I do not encounter software errors.)

Because I was assuming use with low latency, I did not try 44.1 kHz.
But I noticed. In my environment, 44.1 kHz on Ubuntu Studio is faster than 96kHz on Win 10! (Reaper reports that.)
Although I have not examined this problem yet, if I could solve the white noise problem, I could actually use it.

When I tried it at 48 kHz or 96kHz on OCTA-CAPTURE and JACK,
In the configuration of JACK, the name of "OCTA-CAPTURE" is listed as a device. So, probably the device is recognized.
But when OCTA-CAPTURE is selected as a device, JACK does not start.

When I tried it at 44.1 kHz on OCTA-CAPTURE and JACK, it started normally.
I can run JACK with OCTA-CAPTURE and run Reaper by Wine and WineAsio.
However, the output sound is abnormal.
Along with the audio output, loud sounds like white noise are generated.
This noise does not occur on other audio interfaces.(I tried FX-Audio DAC-X3J.)
I will look for information to solve this problem.

I checked the hardware, but the OCTA-CAPTURE did not have the switch as described. It may only exist in the DUO CAPTURE.
However, there is a report saying "It ist possible Quad Capture to work" in #12.
This is a happy report. QUAD-CAPTURE is very similar to OCTA-CAPTURE. If QUAD-CAPTURE works, OCTA-CAPTURE may work as well.

First of all manually configure the octa-capture to digital in = off and then set the sample rate to 44.1 kHz.
Note: This has to be done at the device, not in the software.
See the manual for how to do that.
Then power the device off and on again.

I was a little google about this issue, but I could not find useful information.

This is not a drum kit for crazy noise music.
When I use the another audio interface, this emits a normal drum sound.

Thank you for the information. I tried that.
But in my case, the operation had no effect.
All the sounds remain as almost white noise.

Try to find at their audacity guides, they have a lot of tutorial you will find and it's helpful.

Hi!

Has anyone solved the problem of white noise?
My system detects the device well when connected.

I'm on the latest Manjaro and experienced exactly the same with one extra.

- I'm on a fresh install.
- Any sound is a white noise sound.
- After changing the sound output the roland octa-capture option disappeared

Now I'm not even able to add it as the primary sound output device.
Any help would be welcome
