new GxSVT.lv2
Hi
As a follow up of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=17031&p=81070#p81070
I like to announce GxSVT.lv2 here.
After a couple of issues been solved, I like to push this simulation to the stable GxPlugins.lv2 branch.
So, you ask what is it?
Well, it's a analogue simulation of the bright channel from the (*)Ampeg SVT Bass Preamp, the 61XX series.
Additional I've added a (selectable) Cabinet simulation circuit which simulate the Mesa Bogie V-Twin cabinet, of course, not really a bass cabinet, but I've tweaked it a bit to behave like a 4x10 Celestion.
So, you ask, what, what the hell I've to do with this?
It's simple, as a open source developer, I depend on your feedback, otherwise, I may get lost between development circles.
Right now, I'm very proud about this plug, and I believe I've nailed it, but maybe, I'm wrong. That's what I like to know, am I wrong?
Tell me, don't be shy
Okay, here the observe sreeny:
A, yea, the source you'll get here:

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
yep, you should be proud of it. I like it better than the other plugin because my bass player uses Ampeg so it was easier to get the sound he wants with this plugin. I had to play with some IR files you posted in the other thread Hermann to get close to his sound.. Basically, your plugin nailed it.

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Thanks a lot, I have been playing with this and it's very useful!
The power / bypass switch acts a bit strange. So to flip it one needs to click+hold then move the mouse quite a bit of distance up or down for "on" or "off". But the switch would change state before the GUI switch position and LED changes state. So the amp could be on while the switch still visually appears to be in the "off position" etc.

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Yes, it's a bug. Thanks for reporting.
I usually use the mouse-wheel to switch it, that's why I ain't recognise it.
I've now pushed a fix to github.
I'm glad you like it otherwise.

Thank you so much Mr Tramp! Love the plugin and Guitarix, it works awesome with my UA-25 and Mint. I'll grab the updates.

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Just finished my first full track using GxSVT and I am very happy. This plug is a real boon for anyone doing electric bass in the box. It's a truly convincing classic bass tone.

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Cannot wait to see & hear it - I used to be a bass player, and had the original SVT amp with two 8x10" cabinets, but at the moment I don't even have a bass anymore. Anyway, thanks for your work!

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
I've also used it in my latest project. I've used the Samsara's Om Bass 2 (http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... B2&id=2493) instead of a real bass, though. (I've also used RedWirez IRs for cabinet simulation.) I've posted in the recordings section here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17080
Thanks for the great plugin!

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Hi, I tried this with the basses from my QS8 synth, very impressive results.tramp wrote:Okay, thanks so far Harvey.
I've added it now to the GxPlugins.lv2 package, including the MOD UI etc.

So I thought, why not try it on the synth sections?
Indeed, some of them took on a cinematic profile,
and it's very easy to strengthen sounds in the area(s) they may be lacking,
without ruining the original patch design itself.
I'll bet a rather ordinary Grand Piano sample could be greatly improved.
The e-piano sounds from zynaddsubfx, and a lot of OB-xd content
could really take on extra character.
Thanks for coding so many so often!
Cheers

Re: new GxSVT.lv2
Yeah, I use the guitarix plugins all the time for non guitar tracks, I like the distortions on vocals and the modulation plugins are actually my goto plugins for that stuff for anything.
Just wish the delays had bpm sync.

While guitarix itself has bpm sync implemented (via midi beat clock (cc22)) I haven't implement bpm sync in the lv2 plugs yet.sysrqer wrote:Yeah, I use the guitarix plugins all the time for non guitar tracks, I like the distortions on vocals and the modulation plugins are actually my goto plugins for that stuff for anything.

Let me know which modulation plugs you are most interested to has bpm sync and I'll implement it into them.

For the Fun in it, I've implemented BPM sync to the Digital Delay (mono version) already, it's in guitarix git now.tramp wrote:Let me know which modulation plugs you are most interested to has bpm sync and I'll implement it into them.
