How to correctly use / quote CC licensed material

Post by lilith »

I always wonder how to correctly give appropriate credit, when using material with a CC licence.
E.g. the CC BY-NC 3.0 licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/

When putting a track on soundcloud, what information should I give when using such a sample?

Click on the part where it says appropriate credit. And if you need more info click on the more info link that appears in the popup.

Thanks, this I already read. It's quite a lot info one has to give. How can I include this info when giving a mp3 file to somebody else and he publishes the file on a website? This is getting quite complicated quickly.

You could put it in the mp3 meta data and also include a separate license info text file. Or send an email to Creative Commons and ask them, they usually respond pretty quickly.
