Don't know how to lower that first higher note though. ( picture from lmms with scale marked )

Can't get it sounding right, then tried moving all notes up, to make it possible to have that first lifted note one step up while staying in scale.(1/2 semitone?)

Lowest notes are then on the black key after the white F: That's an F flat ?
Sound interesting, but I think it does not sound better :)

Fun fact, somebody on the lmms forums suggested this too, but also got into trouble trying, and gave up.
Sonic visualizer though seems to confirm though, that first lifted note of mine is too much higher. :)

Already wanted to try to lower the pitch, but I cant with this vst. ( it totally ignores me lowering the pitch on vestige )

I like the 4 front piano vst but its a shame we cant do anything with it, no adsr or anything to fine tune the sound.

Made some progress though. Made sure the notes of the piano part, fit in a 4 count. ( last note was a bit over the bar )
This seems to sound better, no more clashing with the bass line.. :)

I am still having issues to get the party starting right :P

( I am also waiting on a ZynAddSubFX tutorial, to make zynadd. sound more aggressive / less smooth sounding, but that's not what my questions are about )

I made it to around 2min 20 sec in. Then there is some variation, with I am guessing an echo.

The problem is, its not on all notes and I have been trying for weeks, but I can't get it riiiiight.

From this two questions.

Can I compare in sonic visualizer two parts of one track , aligned with the melodic spectrogram.

Is there a better way then the ablo beat tracker, to have gridlines, so I can figure out were to put the notes in lmms.

I do have some parts I might use, based on my failings, ( happy little accidents as Bob Ross called them )

The spacing off the notes in lmms is the biggest issue, I cant figure it out from sonic visualizer.
That also why I would like to compare a part I already have in lmms, with this part.
2min 22 sec in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGpR4ceGxW0

Which I would like to compare with 1m22 in.

I am not using the audio file processor for the piano part. :)

The piano in my cover is the 4 front piano vst. That does not respond at all to me changing the pitch on Vestige. I tried. :(
I like the vst, but it has no settings.

For now I happy with my cover but its not finished yet and I can't get past the echo part.

Worst case I won't copy that part. Although I want to be true to the original, a 100% clone is not my goal.
There is a also a scratching part which is probably not possible in lmms or maybe even any daw.

I remember seeing a scratch vst ones, but as far as I remember you could not feed it a track.

My cover already gives me like the original trouble sitting still. And I might even understand why and how.

So the main goal for me to cover this track is already reached.

The echo part is one of the last problems I have. :) ( but its a big one )

I like the sound of the 4 front piano, but its a very simple one.
Most vst do react to me changing the pitch on vestige, but not this one.

I can live with it though. And maybe when track is done, I will give it another try with a different piano vst.

( If I remember right 6 is half a step, 12 is a full step difference ) So it would need to be something between 0 and 6 on the pitch setting.

I also have one called jazz baby that does respond to the pitch change and can be automated unlike 4 front, but it sounds not as good.

For now I am struggling with the echo part, but maybe I should just be original with that part.
I have something I can use in place.

I am missing right now about two samples from kraze. ( were he shouts stop and were he shouts the party is not over yet. )

Then some fine tuning needed on the arpeggio part, and the lets call it an orchestra hit.. ( I think I have the notes right in the piano roll, but it sounds horrible and nothing like the original )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGpR4ceGxW0 1min 20 in. Some brazz. hit.

The others parts of the track are copy paste, from what I already have. :)

Just uploaded latest version, its not finished yet.

I am having some weird issue, it seems the exported track of LMMS has some crackling which does not come from the samples used, who are clearly recorded from vinyl.

Never had this problem before, might go look for rc 5 if only to test if the same happens with rc5.
I notice some difference with rc 7, export to mp3 is now an option. ( also 320 kbs ) and wav an ogg, also with quality options.

Already asked about it on lmms forum, but for now here is The 2018 midi tribute remix of Kraze the Party.

After quite some stress because I started to worry about my hardware, the export problem I had with lmms and this track, is the bass guitar vst.
OM BASS 2

This VST seems to cause some crackling and stutter, in the exported version of the track.

I might do some more testing with inserting a fresh instance of the vst, but this vst might just not work right with lmms.

In my test track, I deleted one OM BASS 2 track, and replaced on the other the vst with Synth 1.
Instant success, exporting problem gone.

So very happy there is no problem with lmms or my pc, not so happy I probably can't use this great sounding vst.
Great sounding when you play the track in LMMS.

To be continued :)

Try raising the buffer settings in lmms.

How does that relate to offline rendering?
Being creative does not imply being lazy, stupid, or illiterate.

you could always start lmms with jack
  • solo the track
  • play the song (real-time)
  • record the output in another app (ardour , qtractor, audacity, jack_rec)
  • import the rendered audio again
  • I like bullet lists

Did some more test. :)

Exported track ( 6 m 40 ) with no problems, but the two instances of OM2 are replaced with zynaddsubfx.

Made something 1 min 20 long, bassline kick hi hat, bassline om2, export no problem.

Is there some dial in om2 we should not touch ?
Can't I layer OM2 ?

is it haunted

Don't we love computers

I gave up on that bassguitar vst months ago.

ZynaddsubFx is now playing the bassline. I never before spent this much time on mixing a track.
Any feedback and or criticism as always welcome.
Two small variations on the piano loop so it qualifies as a remix :P
first 1 min 30 is about the same as the origenal.
