Hydrogen 0.9.5-beta1 released

Post by mauser »

Hi!

just to make sure that nobody gets bored over the Christmas holidays we
decided to release the first beta version of hydrogen 0.9.5 as a special
gift for everyone.. This release is meant as a first "public" preview
and mainly for testing purposes. Here's a quick list of some new features:

- non destructive sample editor ( requires rubberband-cli for advanced
features )
- a timeline
- instrument midi out
- better support for non-ascii filenames ( changed XML-Parser from
TinyXML to QtXml )
- piano-roll editor
- export to ogg, aiff and flac
- ...

The sourcecode and Binaries for Ubuntu 8.04 / 9.04 / 9.10 and debian sid are available here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hydrogen/files/.
Please report crashes and other glitches here:
http://www.assembla.com/spaces/hydrogen/tickets

Merry Christmas to all of you and enjoy your holidays!

Hello Sebastian, that's good news! Unfortunately I'm a 64-bit user, any chance of 64-bits debs?

Best wishes,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy!

No, not at the moment .. We can just provide packages for systems that we use (or that others send to us), and it seems that nobody (of us devs..) is using a 64bit system at the moment. But of course you can fetch the tarball and build yourself a debian package. It's easy and well documented:

http://trac.assembla.com/hydrogen/wiki/ ... qt4compile

Hope that helps,
Sebastian

Compiled a 64-bit package for Jaunty: http://linux.autostatic.com/ubuntu/hydr ... _amd64.deb

So far I like it :D
The only thing that looks weird is the Velocity field when I start up Hydrogeen, it looks all garbled.

Sure I'll give this ago on another machine later. You've put so much work into this and I want to tell you that this product has exceeded by far many expectations that I was trying to fill. Pure logic, easy to use and everything seems to be where you are looking for it.

Thank you.

I'll head over to the Hydrogen forum later today.

Thanks again.

Chippy.

Hey!

Thanks for the package, i've uploaded it to sourceforge!
The Velocity field looks indeed strange :-/ Does it vanish after starting up? Or is it totally unusable for you?
I guess this was on jaunty?

Cool! I can package a Karmic 64bit version too, I've just set up a Karmic chroot.

It disappears as soon as I start using Hydrogen, so Hydrogen doesn't become unuseable. Jaunty, yes. But yesterday I installed my deb on my production machine, also Jaunty, which has an nvidia card and there I didn't see any anomalies. The screenshot is from my netbook which has a Ati Radeon GPU in it and I'm using that with the open source Radeon driver. So it's probably a bug in that driver and not Hydrogen.

Hey!!

Hm, this seems to be a problem with the initialisation of the graphics in that area. I can't help you here, the code looks ok and i'm not owning a ati card :-/

Latest svn has LADI level 1 support now.

What is the idea behind the "Director"?

What is the "Path to Rubberband-CLI" on a Debian based system? How to use the command line and scripts?

A feature request would be add Jack Midi support.

But Hydrogen is working very fine so far, thanks! No Jack crashes anymore till now :)
