Rofl laughing, and now I am sure we are from the same country. ( liedje)

I really like it though.

I am for now happy with lmms, and all or most of what I (need to) learn is the same for all daw.

The side chaining in lmms has given me a few headache already.
Its not easy at all to get that working.

I am not sure if lmms can do real side chaining. I have seen a few tutorials. ( and discussions about this)
There seem to be two methods used for lmms, one uses a calf sidechain plugin.
The one time I got it working the result was rather disappointing.

Making serious music on a computer is allot harder then I had thought.
Most stuff I need to learn is not daw specific though.
Mixing is one thing, but I am still making progress. I am starting to use more and more equalizers, and I am starting to hear / understand why you might want to cut frequencies on some instruments.

About sonic visualizer. Compiling should be relative easy because I should already have all or most libs.
I will have to install the devel files though, I hope there is a list of dependencies in the tarball.

This will be the third time I compile a program my self.
Doom3 for Linux was the first one, lmms the second.

Edit: With the tar ball comes a install text file, with the dependencies. :D

Code: Select all

----------------------

To build on a Unix-like system, run

$ ./configure && make

The following additional libraries are required or optional when
building the SV core libraries:

REQUIRED	Qt v5 http://qt-project.org/
REQUIRED	Vamp Plugin SDK	v2.x	http://www.vamp-plugins.org/
REQUIRED	Rubber Band Library	http://www.breakfastquay.com/rubberband/
REQUIRED	libsndfile http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/
REQUIRED	libsamplerate http://www.mega-nerd.com/SRC/
REQUIRED	FFTW3 http://www.fftw.org/
REQUIRED	bzip2 library http://www.bzip.org/
REQUIRED	Sord and Serd libraries	http://drobilla.net/software/

Optional	MAD mp3 decoder http://www.underbit.com/products/mad/
Optional	Oggz and fishsound	http://xiph.org/oggz/
Optional liblo OSC library	http://www.plugin.org.uk/liblo/

If you are going to build the rest of the SV libraries and the Sonic
Visualiser application, you will also need one or more of:

Optional	JACK http://www.jackaudio.org/
Optional	PortAudio v19 http://www.portaudio.com/
Optional	PulseAudio http://www.pulseaudio.org/

Although JACK, PortAudio, and PulseAudio are individually optional,
you will need to have one or the other of them in order to get any
audio playback. Usually JACK is preferred on Linux, with PulseAudio
as a backup, and PortAudio is used elsewhere.

On Linux, you will need the ALSA libraries (used for MIDI).

If you happen to be using a Debian-based Linux, you probably want to
apt-get install something like the following packages: qtbase5-dev
qt5-default libsndfile1-dev libsamplerate0-dev libfftw3-dev libbz2-dev
libjack-dev libjack0 libpulse-dev libmad0-dev libid3tag0-dev
liboggz2-dev libfishsound1-dev libasound2-dev liblo-dev liblrdf0-dev
libsord-dev libserd-dev vamp-plugin-sdk librubberband-dev.

Does anybody know why I cant register to the sonic visualizer(vamp) forums?

I also looked at the git hub but version 2.5 is not there.

I found an TB 808 manual, and now know what that A and B switch does.

Small step forward. Now I can use that you tube vid.

Slightly off topic.

How to side chain in lmms.

LMMS comes with calf plugins, but the old ones not the newer ones.

I am giving up on sonic visualizer.

There seems to be no place for me to get help.

I have tried at least 10 times already, on different days to register to the vamp plugin forum.

I don't get an error, I don't get a pop up, but registering fails over and over again.

Why do they have a forum if you cant register ?

http://sonicvisualiser.org/

I just noticed they released a newer version. I tried to compile 2.5.

They gave up on 2.5 ?

I am tempted to start ranting, or was I already ranting? :P
