I use play it slowly (http://29a.ch/playitslowly) a lot for learning guitar parts from recordings.
Does any know a way I could feed its output through low and high pass filters to further isolate instruments, especially in cluttered recordings. The software does not work with jack running.
At the moment I have to export files and process them further, which is slower and loses the interactive aspects of the software where you can make changes on the fly.
I have left this as a feature request on the dev's site but in the mean time would appreciate any help available

Re: Play It Slowly Through Low/High Pass Filters
seems like a place for the pulseaudio/jack bridges. Once its in jack its easy to run it through carla and do whatever processing you can dream up.

Re: Play It Slowly Through Low/High Pass Filters
Play it slowly works fine through Jack with the pulseaudio/jack bridge running. I've been using it a lot in the last couple of weeks since getting my system all up and running 100%. Slow down or key change in Play it slowly and play along with Guitarix, all output on firewire to my mixer and P.A.
Install pulseaudio-module-jack to have the bridge available. I am running Jack with Cadence which makes it easy with a pulseaudio/jack bridge tab with start and stop buttons. With the bridge running you might have to select jack sink as the pulseaudio output device via the output devices on the pulseaudio toolbar widget (speaker/audio controls). With that in place anything that plays audio through pulse (including Play it slowly, YouTube or any other audio on a webpage, Banshee have all worked for me) will port through to Jack. Gets even better then because that jack sink virtual device is then available direct as a channel input in Ardour. Then apply filter or other plug ins, record, etc.
