emu0404 pci and spdif

Hi guys,
do you know how emu0404 pci card handle spdif to analog conversion?
Linux driver is working 16bit, emu "spdif in" get 24bit stream..., does emu firmware handle it without OS?
Spdif 24bit stream will get truncated to 16bit or not?

I made some test, I played -90db and -100db 440kz sine, here are results:
audacity->jack->emu0404, sine -90db -- I can hear it
audacity->jack->emu0404, sine -100db -- no sound
spdif->emu0404, sine -90db -- I can hear it
spdif->emu0404, sine -100db -- I can hear it, very weak sound.

So I think that spdif is working 24bit on emu0404 and my amp got 100db s/n ratio
