I'd be interested, too. I'm also willing to test it, if you need someone...

Wow, such (k)Ubuntu hatred all over the forums. Of course that a out-of-the-box pre-configured multimedia distro with long term support is needed. There are young new users coming up and they need to have this option, the way i had Pyredyne and 64Studio when i made my first steps on Gnu/Linux ground.
....Another option (playing the devil's advocate) is to shake hands with GMaq and together make a Debian-Jessie based KX/AV hybrid.

PS: @falkTX One advice if you let me. If you are gonna make new KXStudio distro, this time keep it simpler. Purge out any fancy third party repos, (cough...kubuntu-backports...cough..cough) that you don't have direct control of. Better be something more simple, but harder to break, like just the main Ubuntu repos + kxstudio-debian ones. :)

I didn't hear about you getting a new PC F! That's great news! What did you get?

I'd be interested in checking out a 64bit 14.04 based KX ISO, not 32bit. I haven't used 32bit Linux in as long as I can remember and one of my main LA apps now is Tracktion which is 64bit only.

I'd like 14.04 for the newer xorg which supports my i4600 gfx more fully but after seeing these benchmarks:

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a ... ktop&num=1

It looks like 12.04.4 w/ kernel 3.11 beats out 14.04 in many of the desktop (and server) benchmarks, which is a shame.

Im interested in it for xrandr 1.4 which supports multipe gpus to see if it works better than xinerama.

But im not sure it will work on my old hardware unless it still uses an older kernel.

But hopefully soon i will build a more uptodate machine

I'll be happy to help you test a XFCE-based ISO.

Can I try XFCE with this ISO, or is it KDE only?

I'm DLing now and will do an install and see how it runs on the SSD. I have 14.04 vanilla Ubuntu install that I'll put this i place of.
The adventure begins tomorrow =)

It's what I know and use daily, and also know how to patch.

There's nothing stopping you from installing Xubuntu or any other XFCE+Debian/Ubuntu distro and put kx repos on top.
To be fair.

How kde is setup and themed out of the box is pretty good. It looks nice, Its not my favourite DE but it works and for users switching from windows is a little less daunting as its similar.

Its very easy to change to another DE simply buy installing say LXDE or XFCE. Its not going to be themed aswell as kde though. I use LXDE due to it being a very light DE and theme it with a mac osx theme and cairo dock.

I'd rather install kx studio then change the DE than use another distro with the kx studio repos . Too much messing around. 20 minutes to install kx studio, 20 minutes to install the updates and boom ready to go. another 10 minutes and lxde is installed with the macosx theme setup.

Anyway, ill be downloading the ISO for testing soon once ive reset up system and gotten everything back up. I'm hoping it works on my older system so i can use xrandr for mutigpu support instead of xinerama which doesnt play too nice.

Downloaded, checked MD5 OK, but wont boot from USB stick - have tried Unetbootin and Imagewriter in Mint. Error mentions "ELF" ?
