I've just seen this synth (freeware, but not open source, as far as I can tell) for Linux (and Windows) I did not know about: Charlatan 3. I haven't tested it yet, but from the demo in this video, it looks like it might be good.

Since I don't remember it being mentioned here before, I thought I would share it.

Interesting, I haven't seen this before either. Looks quite a lot like a u-he design.
