I am also no friend of today's flat themes. I love these ones, they work very well on my Debian 12 Xfce System:

Debian 12 - MOTU M4, ESI Maya22 USB - Rosegarden, Reaper

I don't know anyone who does like flat themes!

...i still stick with WindowMaker, or the modern, sophisticated FluxBox.

Discussing themes means: the rest is doing it's job.👍

Yes and no...

Taking a big leap here with PipeWire and other unknowns but yes the Audio side is in as much order as I have control over... Themes seem like an ephemeral "who cares?!" thing but it is the UI of the system... I almost never use existing themes exactly as they are, I usually hack/customize them or custom build them with their developer tools and hand roll a lot of the icons etc. it takes many hours to put together a cohesive system 'look'.. Of course those many hours are subject to User opinion and if the opinion is "It's ugly!" that's what you sign up for, but that doesn't mean time and care wasn't taken.

Of course Audio and Video performance and things working together smoothly is priority #1 but themes and icons are not a small concern..

It will be 50 years this year for me. Every year, the clarity of the theme and the readability of the text are more important. Eyes get old unfortunately. Glen, you have a really good point here.

p.s. My friend's latest song will be released on February 9, 2024 and it is completely recorded and mixed with AVLinux MXE and Harrison Mixbus 32C. Only using Linux plugins. Thank you for this tool that has proven its reliability in serious media production
