Fender Tone Master Pro works in linux

Post by glowrak guy »

The TMP hardware modeler runs $1700, with a nice drag n drop touchscreen, and the latest Fender modeling quality.
A linux user confrirmed it worked well enough to buy the unit. I'm still $1700 short of being in that market,
but installed it's windows editor in AVLinux, and all the controls responded convincingly, so I'm open to donations
After taxes, I may hunt down a Used Fender LT amp, that also can likely be used with a Fender editor in wine-staging.

I've been following a pair of topics, one for the TMP, and one for the two
FRFR cabs Fender released to go with them, The FR-12 and FR-10. People at the links below
are having a long mostly civilzed discussion about the modeling gear and it's competitors
with a couple Fender employees joining in as desired/needed.

One cab buyer says his both Hydrasynth and guitars all sound great with his new cabs,
which have low, mid, high, cut and volume controls

The linux user with a Fender ToneMaster pro unit, says that when attempting to connect
to the Tone editor software, the connection does not go through, with an ongoing
'waiting for usb connection' message. A Fender rep will have stumbled upon that statement,
so it will be interesting to see if it is addressed, among the many requests that have
been made for firmware updates since the first units hit the market. We shall see.
With the software gui already working well, I think fixing the connection setup might sell enough
units, to cover the costs of the improvement.
Cheers

Is it being run through WINE? If so, WINE still does not do USB sufficiently well, and may be the problem.

That user attempted in AVLinux, assuming with included wine-staging, but I don't know what version# of wine...the stock version was 6.22 wine-staging last time I installed AVLinux. A new AVL might arrive soon enough for Santa, probably with a newer wine. Might be a deal-breaker for the Fender returns dept, although the touch-screen reportedly works very well for sound editing.
