Kontakt 7 Laggy Interface

Post by ShopGoose »

Hello,

I've been using Kontakt 7 for a bit and, aside from the libraries pane not working, it's been fine. However, I noticed the interface gets laggy if a complex instrument is loaded, and gets laggier the more complex the instrument is. I'm not sure whether it's the number of ui elements declared in the script or something else, but thought I'd start this thread anyway in case someone else has the same issue.

I will try building the latest WINE soon to see if it makes any difference. I currently use Fedora 37, PlayonLinux and patrickl's WINE coprs https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/patrickl/

Hello, two questions for you:

1) How do you use it without the libraries pane loading?
2) How well does it work for you? The last time I tried it the xrunning made it unusable. I couldn't get it working well enough to make it worth the effort on Linux.

I mainly use Kontakt 7 in standalone for developing libraries, but the quickload menu still exists and dragging and dropping installed libraries from a file manager into the UI still works.
I use FL Studio ASIO through WINE, which I discovered by accident is rock solid. I've seen others mention FL Studio ASIO as well. Sometimes I try to switch to WINEAsio but that always ends up being more fragile, either crashing or outputting no audio. CPU performance appears to be the same as with Kontakt 5 and 6, I don't have any issues with underruns.
