I am not used to listen to this style, but it sounds amazingly well. Thanks for sharing!
PD: It is cool how the drums start in "things to come"
keep it up!
(By the way, thanks for makekit)

Good song. You've got a code whereas I'm finding mine.
I love the simplicity of it, very nice moods.
Well done Garry.

Very fine stuff, G. Thanks for sharing, again.GarryO wrote:My latest effort: "The Only Earthman In Town"...

Very slick production - smoothe. I'd like to hear a more ethereal effect on your voice to add to the mood a little, but then again, that may be overkill. To me, the vocals sound a little too crisp for the rest of the production. Nice song though - I'm jealous of your talent!

Thanks for all of your comments, people, I really appreciate them.
I meant to mention - but forgot - that this piece was recorded with Ardour, the drums were done with Hydrogen, the synths with Yoshimi, and the guitar sound is courtesy of Guitarix.
Some final trimming and tweaking was done with Audacity.
@pablo: re makekit: you're welcome! Thanks for the mention on your blog! (I'd guess that you are the same Pablo?) Thanks to Cezar for bringing this to my attention. For Spanish speakers: http://semicorchux.blogspot.com/
@chipfryer: I don't know about that. Listening to your tunes, http://www.reverbnation.com/chipfryer it seems to me that you have a strong style and direction going on there. (if that's what you meant by "code").
@StudioDave: Cheers, Dave!
@scriptdoc: mmm, interesting point about the vocals. I mixed them this way in response to comments about my tune "Dust": A couple of people said they thought the vocals could be sharper and more "forward". I tried to not make the same mistake here.
I don't know about "talent": the song took a day to write and record (quick for me) but it took about six weeks to get a mix that I was (almost) happy with!
@cga: I'm kind of new to singing away from my bath tub so your comment about my voice is most welcome. I'm not sure that the style is my cup of tea either - it just seemed right for this song.
best wishes to all, G.

Re: A new song: "The Only Earthman In Town"
Awesome... The song reminds me of Bowie or Brian Ferry...

Yes!
I find your script very useful and I wrote a guide in my blog
I am listening to your song again. It is very good. I think you have a very nice voice but I feel you can sing much better. The pitch is OK. I don't know enough English to express what I mean, sorry.
Cheers! Pablo

Indeed, great tune and production. Reminds me of Bowie too, although this certainly has a lot of its own atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!
