I like the software guitarix very much and I think it can do much more than I was able to figure out right now.
I know there is manual https://sourceforge.net/p/guitarix/wiki/Main_Page/ and there is a tutorial https://libremusicproduction.com/articl ... tarix.html
Is something more detailed anywhere out there?
The Master Gain in the amp section is the amount of signal sent from the pre-amp to the power section, right? If I set it to minimum (-20) I would expect 0 output (silence) - but it's not. Why?
There are 16 different distortion effects. What's the difference between them?
General questions regarding the operation of guitarix

Re: General questions regarding the operation of guitarix
I don't think so. While the guitarix wiki is badly outdated, the tutorial on libremusicproduction is the best I'm aware of.hdr wrote:Is something more detailed anywhere out there?
Right, it's the level sending from the first amp stage to the second one. The value is in dB. It means that the signal coming in, gets reinforced/quieter by the value set. Now, a signal coming with 0dB goes out with -20dB, which is sure in the audible range. A signal coming with 5dB goes out with -15dB, and so on.hdr wrote:The Master Gain in the amp section is the amount of signal sent from the pre-amp to the power section, right? The Master Volume could reduce the volume by -50dB, which, in most cases will be enough to silent the output, if not, there a additional volume plugins with a range of -40dB <-> 40dB.
They all have a bit different sound, if you are unsure which one to use, I suggest the tube screamer.hdr wrote:There are 16 different distortion effects. What's the difference between them?

Re: General questions regarding the operation of guitarix
When comparing to real guitar pedals, seems that 16 isn't even good start! For example, Thomann has at the moment 586 guitar distortion pedals:hdr wrote:There are 16 different distortion effects. What's the difference between them?

And sure they don't even have all.

When 16 distortion pedals ain't be enough, The GxPlugins A set of extra lv2 plugins from the guitarix project. provide 30 more distortion pedals.tavasti wrote:When comparing to real guitar pedals, seems that 16 isn't even good start!
