Distortion plugin for voice

Post by oscillator »

Hi all,

I am looking for nice distortion for my voice. When previously running Reason I used the Guitar Amp simulator which did a great job. But now I am running MusE (which means I/it can handle most formats of plugins).

Any ideas? I am making industrial/EBM music and here is an old song made with Reason so you know what I am looking for: https://youtu.be/T0UkOPc2RRM

Thanks!

Calf Saturator is good on anything, but it might not be as extreme as you would like.

Couture is super fun for this sort of thing. It's a bargain but not free.

Thanks ufug, will revisit Calf Saturator! I only use open source nowadays, so Couture will have to pass. Thanks anyway, still learning the FLOSS audio ecosystem. :)

Why not use a guitar amp simulator like you were using before? I've done similar stuff using Guitarix's lv2 plugins. You can also try KPP... I usually like doing this on a parallel channel, so I can drive the amp simulation harder, but mix it in with the "clean" signal to get more clarity.

Thank you for your ideas, will try them out!

KPP (https://github.com/olegkapitonov/Kapitonov-Plugins-Pack) sounds like it could be spot on for me!

Guitarix plugins are great for vocals, the multiband distortion works really well.

Thanks, trying out Guitarix LV2 plugins right now, they are great!

Will be useful tools for basslines and drums too! :)
