What’s new
HiDPI (Retina) support and custom GUI scaling options. See below for more information.
Rubberband 4 based native time-stretching options in the sampler.
Detachable mixer view. (Renoise only)
Custom exponential, per point scaling in all automation editors and the AHDSR modulation device.
Preview of sample editor selections with computer keyboard or MIDI.
A whole bunch of bug fixes 7.

It looks like a very good mileage so far. It runs very smoothly on my old notebook (possibly even better than 3.1.x).
I didn't look at the changelog in details but I'd bet some very welcome performance tweaks were also on the menu.
The only problem is that now that we have a screen detachable mixer and sampler, I feel the urge for a second screen

As far as I know there were no performance improvements.

That is not new, I detached mixer and sampler from Renoise loong time ago
the line curve editing seems nice.
Did you notice they changed the font
