Something bit different: Possessed

Post by lilith »

Just finished with this (mix sounds good to my ears but there can be still some improvement in the low end I guess).
I wanted to use less samples, instead I used more :? Now it's time for a new one, if someone has good suggestions I will do a remix when I can listen to it again :) .

Scale is C phrygian.

some samples are from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anneliese_Michel

The mix is indeed quite good, for the music parts. Most of the voices are also well incorporated although there might be a few places where it could be a bit more incorporated and possibly panned a bit. That might be subjective though.

An exorcism should fix all that

Thanks :) ... Yes, the mix is almost mono, except of the reverbs and some panning delays.
Diva made a good job this time without noise bursts. Instead the noise bursts came from Anneliese  . I struggled a lot to get the bass and and pad right and almost gave up an hour ago.Still not perfect as the pad reaching down into the bass at ~ 120 Hz. I limited a bit, but when I set the cutoff to e.g. 250Hz the pad sounds too thin.

I have to check if the movie is on Netflix

My favorite part is the wood creaking sample that you have incorporated into the percussion. This track definitely has a spooky sound. Nice sound engineering, as always.

Love it. The mix is really good, I wouldn't do much to it. It sounds a little muddy in the 200-400hz area at times though.

Thanks guys : ) I like it too, but sometimes I think it's because I listened to it while making it at least ~100 times or even more

I guess the muddyness (which I didn't hear) might come from the pad sound. I will look into that.

I changed the samples, as most of them were not freely usable. Then I increased the cutoff frequency for most instruments and lowered a bit the ~300 Hz range. After directly comparing it to the previous version I realized that the old version sounded indeed a bit muddy. This is now much better. Thanks again for the feedback.

Cool, yeah the low mids are really tough to spot in your own music (or any for that matter) but when they are cut it makes the world of a difference.

Thanks 2 all.

I don't have anything on Spotify yet. Maybe I make a Bandcamp account this year.

On the hand I read that with Soundcloud premium it's quite easy to host the music on Spotify. I'll check how this works. Also not sure if some of the samples I used can be a problem. Mostly I use public domain stuff, but for some samples I just don't know.
