Ardour
Welcome to the Ardour channel, where we curate and create helpful videos related to the Ardour Digital Audio Workstation, an open source DAW for Linux, macOS...

We decided to support Tobiasz “unfa” Karon in making some new videos, based on some of the work he has done in other contexts (both online and at meetings). unfa’s first video won’t be particularly useful for new or existing users, but if you’re looking for a “promotional video” that describes what Ardour is and what it can do, this may be the right thing to point people at.

In the near-term future, unfa will be back with some tutorial videos, so please consider subscribing to the channel.

Thanks to unfa for this opening video, and we look forward to more. If people have particular areas that they’d like to see covered, mention it in the comments here (or on the YT channel).

Nice. :D

I would create on that channel a playlist too. There are plenty good tutorials online already to put in that playlist which i as Ardour channel would support that way. You don't have to invent all wheels again.

At the moment there is only the introduction video called "What is Ardour?" which is just what I needed. Many full blown DAW's are completely incomprehensible when you open them. They have about 10.000 knobs, windows, sliders and what have you not on your screen. That's why I only record simple things DAW-less. Some times I use Qtractor because in that you can de-activate a lot of distracting things until you need them.

Anyway, I have question. May be a topic for one of the video's. I see that in (a) certain DAW(s) you can make the verses of a song green and the chorus blue. You can do that for every track that makes up the song which immediately shows the structure of it. I find that very helpful! Can that be done in Ardour?

I am not sure, if it can be done and I am away from my hope computer to look for it. But you can put markers on top which helps quite a bit to identify sections of the work. (It works well for me, but I can see how different colors for different sections could be helpful also.)

Can't be done in Ardour. As written you can use the markers for this.
