What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Visual efects for music videos

Post by tavasti »

Just stumbled to one new tool for creating psychedelic videos for music videos: https://biniou.net/index.php

Did not test, but looks interestesting. At leasti in the videos which are on that page, some videos have real video clips processed with that.

For earlier discussions about such tools, see also viewtopic.php?t=17261

I just installed LE BINIOU and managed to get audio in by executing:

Code: Select all

lebiniou -i jackaudio
Now I have to figure out how to use own pictures, etc.
It's not possible to export the Video/Audio stream, but for this screenrecorder can be used.

Ubuntu packages seem to be broken right now, reported it.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
lebiniou : Depends: lebiniou-data (>= 3.27) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Edit: actually, package is in normal ubuntu repo, and adding that ppa does not work :-P

Edit2: and using it starts with bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1806216

There was some bug, but now it is fixed in git version, and version 3.29 should work ok also in Ubuntu 18.04

I tried to create own data dir, with own images, but no luck this far with images. Trying to find out this from #biniou@freenode irc.

Ok, this is how it goes:

* Make directory ~/.lebiniou/images/dir
* Put there png images which do not have any comments, for example make them with: convert -strip pic1.jpg ~/.lebiniou/images/dir/pic1.png
* start lebiniou like: lebiniou -i jackaudio -t ~dir

Note ~ in front of directory name. Now next thing is to make sequeces which match to own needs.

Much better than the previous one, cause there's much more visible from the pictures.

First was run with random sequences, and in fact there was short timers to sequences, colormaps and pictures. Here I crafted patches by hand, only few plugins. Lebiniou was randomly selecting seq, image and colormap.

Tried also it's webcam functionality. https://youtu.be/bt0oCb9OOiU

Flashing is pretty bad, fluorecent lights. Would led lights be better?

@tavasti: I found the other one with pictures much more interesting.

To use audio file as input and let biniou do the whole job.

Step 1: Point LEBINIOU_SNDFILE to the soundfile you want to use

Code: Select all

 export LEBINIOU_SNDFILE=/path/to/wav
Step 2: Start lebiniou with input and output options:

Code: Select all

lebiniou -i sndfile -o mp4 (or just mp4)
Step 3: Merge audio with video:

Code: Select all

 ffmpeg -i ~/.lebiniou/videos/the.mp4 -i /path/to/wav output.mp4
The video files are located in ~/.lebiniou/videos

Better imho:

Using a screenrecorder like simplescreenrecorder for recording Video and Audio. The advantage is that adjustments can be directly made by hand according to the music.

Hand made version:

In fact that was matter of webcam mode/how to handle data, it is now fixed in upcoming 3.30 version.
