Some college buddies and I used to play Dynasty Warriors 3/4 back in the early 2000s to blow off steam (or simply procrastinate). After all these years, I still like the games (even the bizarre voice actiing). I especially enjoy its guitar-driven soundtrack, and wanted to pay tribute by doing a short arrangement of some of my favorite riffs from "Lu Bu's Theme" (which also happens to be the opening music in DW4).

I think if I were to go back and do it again I'd try to find a snare sound that is closer to the original, It's rather distinctive. I would probably make it longer as well. It would be fun to work out some of the other parts, maybe even do a medley.
Hydrogen on drums. Line 6 Pod HD500X into Ardour. I used my 8 string on this one to provide a bit of low end.

Nice playing. Mix is somehow bit dry, but definitely nice work!

@tavasti: thank you!
I think you are right about the mix dryness. I added reverb to the whole mix and made some minor level adjustments just to see what it'd be like to compare the two versions. I may have overdone it a bit, but sometimes you need to go too far to know how far to go.
Here's the "remastered" (hah) version: https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/do-n ... remastered
