Nothing special, not even a song, just a jack_capture snapshot of how I'm currently having fun practicing guitar.
3 instances of Carla: one for the guitar sound, containing in itself 3 layers, one clean and 2 differently shaped dist.; one for monophonic guitar-to synth driving a zynaddsubfx; the last one generating simple accompainment, using x42's 8 step sequencer into the midi chord plugin, various synths. This last Carla instance is coupled to hydrogen.
Happy journey to planet pathetic

Re: "space"
This is really cool. Your description of what is happening "under the hood" makes me appreciate it all the more. And it does sound like a lot of fun. I think it is the zynaddsubfx that adds the most interest to the tone. There is a slight latency on the pitch adjustment to the synth that gives it a nice delay effect.

Re: "space"
The chord progression is nice, as well as the guitar. The upfront sequence with the "C64" sound, though could be a bit too much. Of course this is only a sketch. So how can one comment on a sketch ? By commenting !
There are many directions that the synth sequence can take. Favoring smoother transients, less loud, a bit more washy, with some sharper transients added (synth, percs), maybe even a panning of some sort, but not disturbing.

Re: "space"
Like it, sounds very 70ish. Could easily be from a 70s romance movie, but the chiptune sound doesn't fit well. Maybe it could work if it is more in the background, one octave lower and with some reverb? Mix sounds also quite good to me. Nice work!

I really dig this! There's something about this that brings Paul Masvidal to mind. Perhaps the combination of your phrasing and the effects on the guitar. I look forward to hearing more!

It sound to me like a Genesis, Steve Hackett's digression, (unless the 8 bit sequence) and bring me back forty years ago. I love it !
Even if you can't sing well, sing. Sing to yourself. Sing in the privacy of your home. But sing.

Re: "space"
Hey, thanks everybody, I'm surprised there is so much feedback!
@milo the pitching-in of the synth is desired, Pat Metheny pioneered the idea, ZynAddSubFX allows tweaking many aspects of portamento
@lilith, jonetsu ease of mixing is one of the downsides of this modular Carla approach, basically all output goes on system_playback, and adjusting volumes in the respective Carla's 'Rack'-views is as close as one can get with this more performance oriented approach
@modusjonens, tenryu thanks, these are compliments; late 70s are definitely an influence with me, and if there is some recognizable phrasing in my playing, that's totally flattering
I've been playing with the same setup again today, there are quite some improvements on the patches themselves, and the major breakthrough was finding out how to work around Carla making wrong connections/storing wrong states when using parallel instances: client names need to be unique across all instances, i.e. I've manually expanded the <plugin name> [(instance count)] format with <carla patch name>. Next challenge: nesting Carla instances. If anybody is having some ideas how to translate (within some limits) between Carla's and Carla-Patchpay's ways of storing state..
Thanks again for keeping me motivated
