Curious piece. Somewhat sad, almost depressive. Instrumentation fits the theme well.

Re: The house covered snow (instrumental)
A very nice piece. The instrumentation at times are like flowers blooming out of the snow. I would only say that the piano is perhaps a bit too bright in its transient attack. But then it reminds of a toy piano.
Now if I may, for the convenience of other listeners who might like to have just a bit of background, I will put a summary of the story that inspired the piece, from Wikipedia. Maybe the music is one of the mysterious songs...
"While the rest of the Moomin family are in the deep slumber of their winter hibernation, Moomintroll finds himself awake and unable to get back to sleep.
He discovers a world hitherto unknown to him, where the sun does not rise and the ground is covered with cold, white, wet powder.
Moomintroll is lonely at first but soon meets Too-ticky, a wise spirit who sings mysterious songs, and his old friend Little My (who takes delight in sledging down the snowy hills on Moominmamma's silver tea tray).
The friends build a snow horse for the Lady Of The Cold and mourn the passing of an absent-minded squirrel who gazed into the Lady's eyes and froze to death. However, a squirrel is spotted alive by Moomintroll at the end of the book, and it seems that it may have come back to life.
As the haunting winter progresses, many characters (notably the Groke, Sorry-oo the small dog, and a boisterous skiing Hemulen) come to Moominvalley in search of warmth, shelter and Moominmamma's stores of jam. "

Hi,
A very impressive composition! Very well arranged with the interplay and counterpoint between the piano and strings. This is one of the best examples of orchestral-style MIDI programming with Linux I have ever heard. Can you share what instruments you used for the sounds?

Re: The house covered snow (instrumental)
Great track! Sounds somehow russian to me and reminds me a bit of MARC ALMOND (e.g. the HEART OF SNOW album).
The flute sounds a bit too trashy for my taste and maybe I would add some more reverb here and there.

Re: The house covered snow (instrumental)
Tavasti, thanks you!
GMaq, gratitude! With the update to Ubuntu 18.04, I lost Linuxsampler (impossible to install for me), and accordingly I can't use weighty orchestral samples in gig and sfz So I went back to the old good soundfont, for the composition I dug up instruments in this pile (which ones I don't remember exactly) - https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1200140
lilith, thanks for commentary!
In memory of the passing winter, I edited the video-sketches voiced by this music
