Climate Change

Post by lilith »

Made a track in RENOISE the last 3 days:

https://soundcloud.com/lilith_93/climate-change-1

It's quite simple and straight forward and adding more gimmicks made it worse imo.
I mainly used HIVE from U-he.

I'm afraid I find that one a bit weak. The repeating words which would probably add tension end up sounding like a politician in loop mode during electoral campaign. And as such since they take so much place, they do not add to the rather simple music but rather drag it down a bit. If irony was meant, it does not come across very well I find.

Cheers.

Yes, it's a bit dumb and simple. It also took me only 2 days to make it, so it can be seen as an experiment.

Let's see how many votes it will get. It was for a Renoise competition and dead line is today

I can hear a Kraftwerk influence, especially from about 1:05 to 1:35. Nice! Gotta respect the classics.

Thanks guys. KRAFTWERK was also mentioned by someone else, I wasn't aware of that. The track already got 8 likes, which is also weird

Not that weird. People will react to things like climate change. Skinny Puppy could make a piece about climate change and people will approve, not necessarily because of the music, but because of the topic. And this one hammers that there's a danger with climate change. The music itself as I've mentioned is not that bad, but not one of your best I find.

I started to play around with spoken words. Using a recent talk by François Asselineau (UPR) about the hypocrisy of "president" Macron. It's actually quite interesting to kind iof match the rhythm of spoken words.

At 12:33, René Lussier (Conventum, Fred Frith, ...) has put some instruments to De Gaulle's speech for instance:

It was for a competition that's why I was in a hurry and many people from Renoise listened to the track. The topic was global warming:

If you're not familiar with Kraftwerk, then you need to spend some time with them. Their influence on electronic music is enormous. Start with "The Man-Machine" (1978) or Computer World (1981).
