Chill Out Music ... wtf?
This evening I wanted to do something in Ardour again (just to see what's possible compared to Reaper and to not unlearn Ardour).
Here's a first snippet. Nothing mixed, just a raw concept ... although it could be almost finished with a little tweaking:
https://soundcloud.com/lilith_93/chill- ... ns/s-U7Zvj
First I thought it sounds cheap, cheezy and close to elevator music, but I think it can become a nice, relaxed ambient / chill out track.
The funny thing is: This is in no way the kind of music I listen to myself ...
Damn I love these Zynfusion choirs

This isn't what I typically listen to either, but it is indeed very chill! Kudos for getting out of your comfort zone and doing something different than your normal style. I think I could do that a bit more. I find that exploring different styles has a way of improving abilities, even if you go back to doing "the usual stuff" afterward.

Re: Chill Out Music ... wtf?
I continued a bit with the track and added some guitars yesterday:
https://soundcloud.com/lilith_93/chill- ... ar/s-GWZim
Does it sound too harsh again in the mid range and do the guitars integrate well in the rest? Maybe the track needs a bit more variation I can imagine that it gets boring with time, especially towards the end. Or I just shorten it, let's see. I also exchanged the drum sounds and I think it needs more compression. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know . Does anybody know of a similar sounding band, I want to check if I like it or not *lol*
Old version is still up to see the progress (if any ).

@Michael Willis: I replaced the reverb with your DragonFly (Electric Studio preset).

Heh, thanks for trying it out! To be honest, I just made that one up based on what I thought people might want in a reverb for electronic music It's great to have somebody actually test it out.lilith wrote:(Electric Studio preset)
Edit: Where did you get the samples of the woman speaking?

Re: Chill Out Music ... wtf?
I'm really surprised how good it fits. I pitched it a little bit lower only and added some reverb.lilith wrote:Lol... it's not a woman, it's TERRENCE McKENNA.Michael Willis wrote:Heh, thanks for trying it out!
