Nice work learning about midi. I'm assuming that you programmed everything, rather than recording from a midi piano. If that's the case, don't be afraid of trying to record yourself playing a midi piano. I let it scare me for a long time, but finally I just made myself do it and I am much more happy with how expressive my music turns out. You can even "cheat" by cutting the tempo in half if your fingers aren't nimble enough.
I'm curious about the sounds you are using. What piano is that? It kind of sounds like a harpsichord, but not quite. The synth strings section with its hard attack and release makes me think of the demo scene from the early nineties. What is the wind instrument in the background? It sounds like some kind of whistle or pipe organ, and makes me think of a sound heard in Stairway to Heaven.

Re: Producing practice
This sounds very 'rigid' and mechanical Is that the result of being programmed rather than played?
