"Echoes in the Night", on Soundcloud
Hello all,
I posted few days ago my latest track on SoundCloud, I called it "Echoes in the Night". It is a piece based on a 4 bars theme (d f e a c) and an interval of two ascending notes (d a). It is recorded in Ardour on Linux (Mint 17.3, 64) using 8xZebra 2 (u-he), Sequent (Loomer) and Hydrogen for the drum track and a bit of my voice . a-compressor from Ardour was used as a spice on the buses, including main mix. The drums have a lot of presence, and sound quite "electronic".
The more I use Ardour the better I'm used to it. What I understood recently is that in order to have many plugins I had to "bounce" often and to manually de-activate the plugin track (in order to save precious CPU of my 7-years old desktop).
I think I should categorize it as "electronica/ambient" but I'm not sure it fits, it's simply "a piece".
Feel free to comment it!!

Nice track. Very good and fitting use of Sequent. Perhaps just a bit too much between 1:04-1:15, but that's just me. I would have put the Sequent track just a tiny bit more at the back. The overall feel of the piece is nice and coherent. Do you know Cumulus by Loomer ?
Cheers.
Cheers.

Jonetsu, thanks for your time in listening the song.. appreciated!
Between 1:04 and 1:15 yes, I wanted some "crushy" effects prior to the "transition" part... That is Zebrify, BTW.
Yes, I know cumulus and I really like it. I got some nice textures out of few soundfiles of my own and sooner or later I'd like to put together something with it. The Loomer products are really good!

Thanks Glenn, appreciated!
The mix is one of the most complex aspects I just faced. Glad to hear that it sounds acceptable.

Overall I enjoyed this, but found the 'squidgy' noises a bit of a distraction.

Hi folderol,
your feedback is appreciated...
Yes, there is a lot of contrast in the piece between the "creamy" parts and the "crunchy" stuff.
Maybe too unbalanced toward the latter.

Nice track!
And awesome glitches! Tho, I would put those (glitchy) drums a bit louder in the mix....
for the rest the mix sounds really good overall
