Dark Mist
Been a while since I put up any of my stuff.
Here's one I did a while ago - all with Rosegarden and Yoshimi. Title is fairly descriptive I think

Re: Dark Mist
Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
@beck I did in fact try several sound combinations. The ones i chose were the ones tat seemed to fit best. If I woas doing it again I'd likely make different choices

Re: Dark Mist
This was shared way before I moved my first steps here, so I was unaware of it too. I really like it! It feels like a track that wouldn't feel out of place in a scifi/cyberpunk movie or game soundtrack. I particularly liked the organ coming in at the beginning, very airy and sets the mood.

Re: Dark Mist
Such lovely sounds! Especially the "lead" in the intro section. did you process the recording afterwards? If not I can only say that Yoshimi performances can sound very record-ready.

Re: Dark Mist
Hi Jeanny, Very pleased you like it.
I've just checked the project notes. There were 13 Rosegarden MIDI tracks driving the respective parts in Yoshimi in a single pass, which was captured by Audacity. The only post processing was a 3dB fast lookahead limiter and the obligatory start and end silence trimming.
This has been pretty much my standard procedure for years. It's actually very unusual for me to do any further processing. There are a few where I've used Jamin to combine some EQ with limiting to deal with an exceptional circumstance.
That lead sound is 'Bubbles' from my Companion bank

Re: Dark Mist
In the past, when I had more spare time, I tried to comment songs as soon as they were released. Now It's getting harder but your post made me realize that it's better to comment a track every working day than 20 tracks on a single Sunday. The track is great, don't worry! Would be quite fitting as a soundtrack
