Made another track with Renoise. Especially the mixing (kick and bass) took me quite a lot of time. I would call it Techno in the widest sense with a simple 4/4 beat. I tried to not overload it with sweet melodies - something I'm liable to - and tried to focus on the beat this time.
Is there something lacking in the low end?
I'm also not super happy with the samples ...

Re: Duck & Cover
Hi,
this is not my kind of music, but as you have not yet gotten any answers: I think there is some lack in the lower end. I have listened to some other electronic tracks for a comparison.
But my speakers go only down to 50 Hz, so if your lower end is significantly lower than that I might have overheard it!
Overal impression is quite cool! But again, I am not the right person to objectively judge the sound of that.

Re: Duck & Cover
Thanks, I think I'll let it sit for some days and think about changes. I also have only 5 inch speakers + several headphones. Compared to version 1 I think it improved:

The bass could be 1-2 dB louder maybe.

Re: Duck & Cover
I'm never keen on voiceovers on what is otherwise an instrumental. For me it just breaks continuity. The track is otherwise not bad. There is bvery little going on at lower frequencies. I don't know what source you're using for the kick, but that's rather weak too.

Re: Duck & Cover
The kick is based on a Linn-Drum sample, which is heavily boosted. In green is the frequency distribution of the kick (+ the waveform) with the maximum at around 60-80Hz. I agree with the samples. At the beginning it's fun, but one can also overdo it.

Strange. It sounds quite weak here. I shall have to investigate - maybe it's time to recap the amp... although it's only about 45 years old
