ILOK, eLicenser & Waves plugins....

Post by Mk2 »

hello !

do you knows if iLok & eLicenser works on linux / successfull install ?

actually i got pbs :

for ILOK i got an error at install and Lexicon MPX reverb does not recognize protection, so it's not good installed, or simply won't work...

for eLicenser, i have not tested yet, but some people have installed plugins with eLicenser required... or maybe they uses "alternatives versions".. dunno.

also, i dunno how to extract plugins .dll from wavesshell.dll to put'em in LinVST folder, if anyone can help, it's much appreciated !

I wouldn't normally say this but if you have already paid for the software, or intend to, then try a cracked version if you can to see if it works. They naturally bypass this stuff which can be useful if the official methods don't work.

the problem is that the cracked version is "Lexicon PCM total bundle", but i don't like it, i prefer the simple MPX native Reverb, the interface and usability is better, simplier & efficient !

+ cracked soft are buggy : CPU spikes... glitches in project.... no precision.... timer sync issues....

... i dunno what is this .msi error nor how to fix it. :(

ilok requires widows kernel cause it wants to make changes to it.

no windows kernel no ilok reg.

I normally will say this, I sure hope wine is immune to windows viruses
that cling like leeches to cracked versions
Who makes software so superior to competitors,
that recommending cracked versions even gets a keypress?

If it's a choice between messing around with ILOK/eLisenser then I know which I would try. Which one may contain a virus or malware is a matter of opinion.
That said, I've never had any problems with viruses in almost 20 years of using VSTs so it's not clear what you're referring to exactly. Scaremongering isn't helping anyone.

"iLOK Software Licence Manager needs winetricks msxml3 (might need crypt32.dll overrides, winetricks crypt32)"
https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst/tree/ ... iled-Guide

I never tested...

Well, everyone in the context I mentioned it. If I have already paid for it then no one is missing out, it can be easier for me to test and means that I would be more likely to continue being a customer if I can quickly be sure that the plugin can work.

You buy something without knowing it works,
then if it doesn't, you actually trust cracking crews to release
a better version of the software, in case that one might work?
Little wonder there are more crackers than linux musicians :(

iLok Manager stopped working with 4.19+. Didn't have the time to test what went wrong. Reverting to 4.18 (staging or mainline, does not matter) fixes the issue. I've installed wine-stable (4.0.3) because I only use this version of wine for LinVst(-x) and it works flawlessly. I guess.

I think it runs without any overrides, but I have msxml3, vcrun2013, vcrun2017 and gdiplus (this one for SoundToys) on this prefix.

Cheers.

I'm attempting to try some VST plugins which require iLok on my Arch machine
and the installer always hangs at 'Starting Services'

wine-5.7-1
LicenseSupportInstallerWin64_v5.2.1_ece9b9c290

Have attempted overrides, seems to hang at the same point regardless
winetricks msxml3 crypt32

Have attempted the legacy version from the iLok site
LicenseSupportInstallerWin64_v2.4.8_r37293
Which installs but won't run post install

Any advice?

Hi,
in my experience iLok works pretty well in wine 4. I run an ubuntustudio 19.10 on an external ssd to activate/deactivate software on my linuxbox.
I’m sure there are better ways but I’m pretty low on wine knowledge.
Then I use Carla with the wine bridges to run the software.
It is an unfortunate situation.
I’ve submitted a bug under wine and one on ubuntustudio for that: if you can add yourself to mine on bugs.wine.org. search for iLok you will find it.
Best regads,

Fabrizio
