Quantize

Post by alex stone »

Before I submit a feature request, i'm checking to see if i've missed something in relation to the quantize function.

At the moment we can quantize by opening a popup window, or selecting a specific quantize length using actions.

Is there a function allowing us to quantize to fill a specified grid space, including extending or adjusting either end of a note? So if a note is just after a beat, and extends slightly beyond the end of that beat, can we quantize to automatically adjust position and length to fit and fill that beat, with some sort of quantize to grid?

No I do not think so at the moment, unless I have missed something.

A few days ago I fixed some quantization stuff in another report, and I remarked that
we do not appear to have separate length quantization adjustment -
you must 'lump it in' with the positional quantizations in those function dialogs.
I said we should add a separate 'quantize position' button in addition to the 'quantize length' button.

The feature you request would be good to have as well, aligning to grid.

I'd say go ahead and file it in the issue reporter so somebody remembers to get around to it
