On-Board FW vs. FW PCI card??

Hey folks,

I am in the process of putting together a small scale DAW. Currently I am researching my options when I came across these questions regarding Fire Wire connectivity.

Are there any mobo's with more than one FW port and if so which one's are powered ports (barring a mac mobo of course)?

If there are none with more than one port or are not powered, what PCI/FW port card should I be looking for?

The reason I am looking in this direction is because I am considering going with the Focusrite Saffire Pro. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
