Roland Edirol FA-66 Firewire

Post by siabost9deas »

Hi All,

I've just bought a Roland Edirol FA-66 Firewire soundcard &, plugged into TI chipset PCIe card, it works perfectly out of the box.

Currently I can run it at 256/2 & 256/3 (44.1KHz) buffer/periods but lower than that Jack doesn't allow, at least on AVLinux with KXStudio repos enabled. It does run really well at that though.
44.1KHz 256/2 = 5.8ms
48KHz 256/2 = 5.3ms
96KHz 512/2 = 5.3ms

Does anyone know how low I should be able to set the buffer in Jack? I don't mean what will be acceptable in terms of x-runs but what Jack will actually allow to run.

BTW, I would have expected to be using the Firewire Tab in Jack but the FA-66 only shows up on the Alsa tab - why would that be?

Many thanks.
