What are the connection issues you are seeing? Is is just wifi, or also wired?
So, it 'sees' the wireless network. I enter WPA password, takes about 30 seconds of trying to connect, then just cannot connect.

I haven't tried wired either, but on the 2018 AV Linux, it didn't work. Strangely, it works just find in a 2014 version of AV Linux and in Ubuntu (2018). So I know the first instinct is to look at hardware, but it is working fine under some other systems.

I did end up ordering the new (used) Audiofire4, so I'll hopefully soon have a plug and play system under my old 2014 AV Linux system (on a separate hard drive), but I'd like to eventually move to AV Linux 2019, so all the information in this thread is still relevant.

Could you post (yes, yet another time, sorry) the output of:

Code: Select all

 cat /proc/asound/cards
If your Emu card is not in there then it is not (yet) recognized.
So I just checked using this code, and all it is seeing are the two Intel 'cards'. No Emu.

Do I go back to one of your earlier posts about a long-install for cards? Problem is, I have no internet connectivity on this computer/live disk, so it is handicapped at the moment.

Under the installed Ubuntu system, the same code above produces 2 results -

1. HDA-Intel
2. Loopback 1 (whatever that is)

Right now, I feel my best chance is to get it working under Ubuntu, since I have internet access there. Any next steps for helping the system 'see' the card? I've already got the firmware. I ran through the code earlier in this threat (courtest of Bill1959 from that other thread) and still no dice.

Do we throw in the towel, or are there other options?

I think that the HDA-Intel one is your on-board audio card. Am I right? If that is so thne no driver is loaded for the E-mu 404 card. Maybe it's broke, maybe the driver or firmware isn't loaded... I give up.

Does that folder need to be in a different location for the system to recognize them?
Yes, it needs to be in a different location. Your firmware files should be located in "/lib/firmware/emu/" folder, and the files should be: "emu0404.fw", "audio_dock.fw", "micro_dock.fw", "hana.fw", "emu1010b.fw", "emu1010_notebook.fw".
