Hi, this is my first post here but I have created music with Linux for a long time. I need a new midi controller which is small enough to be portable but big enough to play. 25 keys doesn't cut it for me.
I saw a IK Multimedia iRig Keys 37 midi controller at a second hand shop for a good price, but from what I see it is mostly meant for Apple. Before buying it I would like to ask if anyone has had any success using IK controllers in Linux. Is it just a matter of plugging in the USB cable, or is there anything I should be aware of?

Source: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigkeys37/iRig Keys 37 is easy to use. It's fully MIDI and USB class compliant which means you just need to plug it in, fire up your favorite program, and you’ll be ready to go. No additional apps, software or drivers are necessary to get it up and running.

Thanks, somehow I missed that info when I looked on google. Should be fine then. I'm still a bit on the fence though - the keyboard is a bit too wide to carry comfortably in my backpack while on the go. I might try a M-audio 32 keys instead.

Get a better backpack. You decide your gear, backpacks, not so much.
Also, the IK software bundle will work in a modern linux-wine-reaper combo.
Cheers

37 keys beats 32. I bought the iRig and am happy to report that it works out of the box in Linux.
