RME Fireface 800 and Tascam US 2400

Post by basementmedia »

Hi there,
from former days (i used Cubase) i own a RME Fireface and a Tascam 2400.
Both i'd like to use with Ardour and with my Linux Mint Distribution (18.3 Mate).

I already successed in getting the Fireface working with Ardour (Jack and FFDAO driver).
But unfortunately the standard system sound (e.g. watching a Youtube Video) doesn't work.

Is there a way to get the Fireface working also as Normal Soundcard?

The second question is:
Is it possible to use the Tascam 2400 with the Ardour software?

Best regards

Daniel

Hi and welcome :D

before you get more competent answers you might look into this:

As I said I think the best is to add the KXStudio Repos onto your Mint. It also works with Mint as it's Ubuntu based.

If you're using a system newer or equal to Debian 9 (Stretch) or Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) you'll also need to enable GCC5 packages.
You can do so by installing this deb file - kxstudio-repos-gcc5.deb, or manually by running this:

Does anyone have a better idea (e.g. installing pulse bridge by hand) or is the savest method to install KX repos?
