The one port may be on a shared bus (with other ports & devices) and the better port is dedicated?bluebell wrote:I have one laptop where one of the usb ports needs at least a jackd buffer size of 128. On another port I can use much lower buffer sizes. I don't think that that's a Focusrite issue but I can't prove that.

I don't think that's the reason because I use the Scarletts on an USB hub. Some say you shouldn't but it works fine on three different computers.asbak wrote:The one port may be on a shared bus (with other ports & devices) and the better port is dedicated?bluebell wrote:I have one laptop where one of the usb ports needs at least a jackd buffer size of 128. It can be hit and miss. My Behringer UMC goes nuts on a hub and is unusable although it works great in an on-board USB port, whilst my older Edirol UA-25 didn't mind a hub at all.

Thank you for all the info, and sorry if my comments on Behringer caused some blisters... Munch munch... This is the sound of me eating my prejudices towards that brand. I can do without the Amazonian Rainforest Virgins at the moment...

qeiynn? How'd you make out? I'm getting ready to buy one and wanted to see what happened in your world. I'm replacing a little Behringer analog mixer.
