I have a UMC404.
Very low latency operation possible in Linux, cheap price, solidly built, good sound. For the money I don't think there's anything quite like it.

Re: Support of audio interfaces under Linux
I'm running a MOTU Ultralite AVB and it sees 24/24 or 32/32 channels no problem. I can even get it @96k 24/24 in/out without too much stress on the system I have. The expandability alone will come in handy when the needs grow and very much worth it. Very much worth the $ if you're serious about audio and quality. I had a Behringer UMC204 and it doesn't even compare. I couldn't even get it to work in duplex @48k or above without very noticeable pops and clicks. With everything I spent in Behringer audio products trying to get decent audio you can spend with the MOTU and a great set of Shure SRH840 headphones and get great quality. Most of the Behringer products I have now are broken or just don't work right. This is 3-4 yrs in. Just my experience so far with linux audio support of these devices.

Re: Support of audio interfaces under Linux
Hope someday we see a project started to design a USB / AVB / TB3 hardware interface for Linux. The project could start based on a open hardware development board supporting AVB/TB3/USB and then develop the kernel driver and software support under Linux over a few years by this community. Just like MOTU developed some of their AVB interfaces from the open hardware AVB platform.
For myself, I would hope 4 channel ADAT to USB/AVB to see the light of day
MOTU just released an AVB to 4 ADAT, but AVB is not suppered on Linux.
RME released a USB to ADAT but does not work with Linux.
This to get up to 24+ audio channels so to reuse the ADAT external pre-amps and Audio interfaces. Keeping the costs down.
It is so depressing, that there is such a huge lack of Linux support for semi-pro audio that after hoping for so many ywars I am very lose to move back to Windows and AVB or DANTE for mixing and mastering and keep Linux just for experimenting.

What about that problem you used to have with the UMC404 occasionally going on strike until you connected it to a Windows box to reset it? Did you get that fixed somehow?asbak wrote:I have a UMC404.

Re: Support of audio interfaces under Linux
Yes that was a weird situation. It could have been related to the firmware version (I upgraded it eventually in Windows to a later version) or perhaps the hardware (USB ports) of the HP Proliant Mini server I had it connected to at the time.
I've not experienced that problem on another computer (old I7) so think it must have been either a firmware or computer hardware (or both) issue which only manifests itself under certain conditions.
