i bought mixbus 2 months ago and i'm pretty happy with it, i use it for EDM and it's good for it too (if you have enough channels for the different parts). It's very good for mixing and mastering and user friendly, it takes a lot of CPU working, too much for my 1.2 Ghz laptop, work fine recording playing and editing, but when i turn on eqs or compressors, xruns start to flow like a river.
So i decided to buy a more powerful gear, hope that around 2Ghz will work properly.
I also hope that special offers are not over yet because till now i couldn't buy more plugins due to lack of CPU power.
I would like some day to be able to use it for real time playing but maybe it's too heavy and Ardour is preferred for this use.

Soon they'll be giving it away for near free. After all, it's a bit difficult to ask a lot of money for those plugins. They are quite limited compared to what's on the market. Linux users being usually a captive market with limited choices, these plugins have more impact. But now it's starting ot be easy to have access to a greater choice.

I think something is brewing. Maybe they'd expected more reaction after their last release and the review by Spectre Sound studios, more sales. But then maybe they were abit too much inside a bubble. After all there's not that much of a need to make a DAW for a company that sells very expensive large consoles for big customers, if the DAW business is more trouble than profits over a middle term. Or maybe not. Maybe they'll come up with some Big New Thing that will make everyone, including the competition, go aaaaahh!

This said don't get me wrong. The plugins are of excellent quality. They are just made to be too simple when on the market everyone has, for instance just to name some, presets load/save, with many having favorites marking. And many are delivered with a certain number of presets for different uses. And user guides.

Cheers.

I think about buying those. Is there anything comparable when not using Windows VSTs?

Exactly. In many cases there's nothing. I mean, you can get other EQs and it makes sense to have several for each have characteristics, same with the two compressors. For others like the bass, vocal and drum characters (XT-BC, VC and DC), they're unique. I'm still using the XT-DC on the current work since nothing else produces the same sound. In general it's good to have several of each type. The XT-SC spectral compressor is unique in Linux, unless LSP has one, not sure. The tom-tom gate is totally unique, if you have a need for that.

So I'd say get them, you will not be at loss for some $50. My previous comment was about the lack of features they offer when compared to other plugins in the Windows world only. Not about the quality.

Cheers.
