Judging from the selection we have it's obviously not that close.
We have a very high ratio of quality commercial daw choices per 1000 musicians,
and also several longstanding and useful freeware projects.

It's a cliche joke on win/mac musician forums to cite something
like 'all 79 linux users blah blah blah', and 'Oh, it's up to 84 now!'

Snarky linux users only help their own egos remain inflated.
Oh come on, we have a tiny fraction of the windows plugins and daws ported from windows. How many users there are is beside the point. If it were so close to mac then a lot more would be ported.

Hi,

Buyer beware and pay attention!

A side note is it seems you have to pick USD or Euros to see the discounted price, when I clicked the 'Buy' button in my own (Canadian) currency the discount was not reflected, selecting USD did show the discount...

For any Canadians reading $300 USD is roughly $385 CDN at the exchange rate as of this writing... still a very large number unfortunately... I balked at the last minute and cancelled, I would have went for $300 CDN but a bad time of year for expenses as superfluous as yet another DAW...

Maybe you'll cross paths with someone who needs a nice midi controller
like the Nektar, and haggle down to a good deal for both of you?
Or even create a raffle for just the keyboard, which would be a fun way
to support AVLinux

mi dos centavos

These bundles show up as in stock:

How about if 10 to 15 people here give $10 each to help ? Can you do that ? Is it too much to ask ? I certainly do not have much but I can give $10.

Cheers.

Have you considered asking them for a NFR?

After all you do contribute to the community and might need to test it more than superficially to make sure it runs well on your distro.

Hi,

Whoa whoa whoa!, such kind gestures are VERY much appreciated, but my intention was not to ask for charity...

I merely meant for an 'EDM-curious' blues picker, the price is a bit beyond my threshold of reasonable expenditure :D

@Jack Winter,

I did reach out to BitWig about that and never heard back, in the past Renoise and currently Harrison have been very kind and generous to provide me with NFR versions for testing with AVL.

In general I feel slightly ashamed asking for NFRs, but I do ask sometimes. From some I've never heard back, and from others I've gotten nearly the entire catalogue. I asked one of the really big firms once and got no reply, so I forgot about it. About a year later they got in contact and I got their second biggest bundle :)

He he this was not about charity but rather about the spirit of giving which may still be present here and there in some corners in these days, in this season.

Cheers.
