New usb Mustang amps: wi=fi/bluetooth -->incoming<--

Post by glowrak guy »

Some over-exhuberant european Fender dealers have 'leaked' the news and some specs.
The previous range included seven V1 hardware versions, and 5 or 6 in V2, which contained
more amp models and effects.

It appears there will be 3 or 4 new amps at first, featuring wi-fi, with presumably some
greatly enhanced dsp, as V1 and 2 are 5+ years old, and expectations will be high,
based on the success of previous releases. 21 amp models, 47 effects, and work done
to remove limitations on the effects chain possibilities. Here are a couple snippets
posted in a Fender forum that were later pulled by retailers:

"How can a modern legend like the Mustang digital amplifiers be improved?
Simple-we do it again, bigger and better with the 100-watt Mustang GT-100.
We take seven decades' worth of experience crafting inspirational tools
and use it to add new(and better) amp and effects models while making it
easier to use all of this without sacrificing one iota of power.
We make it easy to control a studio's worth of authentic amp
and effects models with one finger via Bluetooth and the exclusive
Fender Tone app.We invent the world's first WiFi-equipped guitar amplifier,
making it easy for you to download the latest updates,
access Fender artist-created presets, and connect directly with
a community of other creative players and music makers like yourself.
We create the Mustang GT-100 digital amplifier...for studio and stage.
Packed with 21 classic amp models-everything from the renowned
'59 Bassman to modern metal -and 47 different effects, the Mustang GT-100
can easily recreate classic tones or create brand-new,
never-before-heard sounds. We developed new algorithms with even
higher fidelity and more realistic response, along with more
signal path flexibility so you can move effects anywhere
in the signal chain for creative exploration.
Program your sounds in the studio on the Mustang GT-100's large,
full-color LCD display and then, with one hand,
take them to the stage and deliver the most realistic listening experience
possible for any audience, short of inviting them into the control room.
You can even stream audio from your mobile device via Bluetooth wireless."

I would watch for closeout sales prices on V2 amps, which are
extremely well suited for linux studios, and there is a full amp editor
called Plug in the debian repos, that works for creating, editing
and saving whatever amp/effects settings you create.

These amps are also a great way to make a variety of input tones
for your favorite ampsims and effects chains.
Cheers
(as an aside, there has been significant third-party work done,
in the wi-fi/bluetooth use of Fender and Marshall modeling amps,
(perhaps other brands?) much of it linux/android based,
which would have been a corporate embarrassment,
if such capabilities were not included, and marketed at the official level
So bedroom coders have actively spurred on commercial developement)
Cheers
