Audio from MixingDesk into RaspberryPi thru XLR

Post by p-i- »

I wish to stream Audio from a MixingDesk into a RaspberryPi thru XLR.

I'm trying to make a product that will work with a wide range of commercial mixing desks.

Is XLR output standardised across mixing desks?

Can anyone recommend a converter? (The cheaper the better).

I've asked here: https://forum.juce.com/t/audio-thru-xlr ... y-pi/35452

Yes, nominal level is +4 dBu, about 1.7 volts. Standards vary but you will want to be seeing around -18dBFS for an input of +4dBu. This is what is called 'line level', as opposed to something like a microphone preamp which is expecting much lower input levels.

I think you will find that your best bet is some sort of USB interface. Make sure that you get something with an actual +4dBu line input, not a mic pre and not the consumer -10dBv line input.
