That brings back memories. (I though Elektor was a german magazine?) They also sported a complex analog synthesizer I remember.
But as much as I would love to build a vocoder, I think I will await the release of Behringers VC340 - a component-by-component clone of the legendary Roland VP330.

I find the idea of the DIY Vocoder super, but also high technical effort. \o/ IMHO
I have fun with the Roland SVC-350, organic sound. :D
